Bake your dreams come true….

So...it all started with a dream. Since I was a little girl, I always had the desire for sweets and for baking. Back when I was in elementary school I would bake during the weekends and quickly became known as the family foodie.

I thought about going to pastry school when it was time to go to college, but I didn't dare go and study something like pastry! People said that pastry was labor intensive, not intellectual enough, etc.  So, I filed that dream away in my head, thinking it was maybe just a bad idea.

Meanwhile I lived in Tel Aviv and I studied history, literature, communications and I worked in public relations, journalism and publishing for a few years.

Needless to say, I grew wearisome quickly.  I decided to move to the US to work in a special program that placed me in small Jewish communities in southern Illinois, southeast Missouri and western Kentucky, where my job was to bring some Jewish & Israeli culture and education to the Jewish and general communities.

While I was traveling in the 40,000 square mile area region I was responsible for, I initiated food workshops, focusing on Mediterranean food and pastries. I enjoyed bringing the flavors of my home to people and especially feeding them (and seeing them enjoy it)!

It just so happened that that I met my husband in during this time in the US, so I did not return to Israel as planned.

Now finding myself in Chicago, I had to decide what I should do. I came to the United States to escape the cubicle and the office politics and again that dream of baking and making delicious pastries kept running through my mind.  I finally decided to make the big step and attended the French Pastry School in Chicago.

I was finally fulfilling a dream that laid patiently in my head over the years. It was a long baking process, but the results were fresh and tasty!

Besides making good pastries, I fulfilled a dream and learned to follow my heart. That was my best life lesson and my key ingredient in every recipe.
